“Odesa” International airport launches new route to Sofia!


We are excited to announce the start of cooperation between “Odesa” International airport and Bulgaria Air airlines on launching of direct route from Odesa to Bulgarian capital – Sofia.

The first flight with ceremonial delegation on board landed today at “Odesa” International airport. The delegation consisted of 54 people, among who there were members of Parliament, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Bulgaria, representatives of Bulgarian executive bodies and business. The delegation was led by Bulgarian deputy Prime minister on economic and demographic issues – Valeri Simeonov. They were welcomed by Ukrainian Member of Parliament Anton Kisse, representatives of local and regional bodies. Ladies in Ukrainian and Bulgarian national suits welcomed guests with Ukrainian traditional bread and salt (which means hospitality) and sprinkled water on the ground in front of the guests (according to Bulgarian tradition, it brings luck) to emphasize the importance of relations between Ukraine and Bulgaria.

Regular flights from Sofia to Odesa is planned to be performed by Embraer 190 on Fridays. Bulgaria Air is planning to start regular flights in nearest future – right after completion of formalities; also, the airline is planning to increase the number of flights to twice a week. Regular flights will depart from Sofia at 19:25 and arrive to Odesa at 20:30; in the reversed direction aircraft will depart at 21:20 and arrive at 22:40 (local time).

To recap, in 2017 “Odesa” international airport launched 4 new routes and hadled over 6700 flights.
