“Odesa” International Airport Increased Passenger Traffic by 18% in 2017


In 2017, the Odesa International airport handled over 1.22 million passengers with increase rate of 18.3% to the previous year. Thus, more than 240 000 passengers were handled on domestic flights and over 980 000 on international flights.

In total, 13,838 flights (more than 10,000 international and 3.800 domestic) were performed, with increase rate of 17,1%. Also, the airport showed 10.2% increase of cargo traffic.

2017 was marked by the starting of operations in the New terminal, as well as the launching of new routes to Ankara, Kaunas and Riga. Last year the Odesa airport started cooperation with three new airlines: airBaltic (Latvia), Sun d'Or (Israel, subsidiary company of El Al Israel Airlines) and Pegasus Airlines (Turkey). In addition, over the past year, the frequency of flights was increased on 12 routes. Among other, a significant increase in the frequency of weekly flights was achieved on the following routes: Warsaw (from 7 to 14), Tel Aviv (from 7 to 11), Sharm el Sheikh (from 3 to 7), Vienna (from 7 to 10) and Dubai (from 3 to 5).

Altogether, according to the results of last year, the Odesa International airport took up the position in TOP-3 Ukrainian airports by the number of handled passengers, along with capital airports.
